...and I feel fine
In about 4 hours, after a 48hr grace period, we go into full lockdown for at least a month. This afternoon, the government (with support from the opposition) invoked pretty much every law short of the War Powers Act - effectively NZ is a single party dictatorship for the next 3 months.
I’ve spent the last 2 days moving my team into work from home mode, and will spend the next few figuring out how I can keep them all busy and off the CEO’s radar when he starts thinking about cost cutting when our demand collapses (which it inevitably will ). I told him about 5 years ago that I’d let good people go before and I was never doing it again - I feel like I still stand by that, so the first one out the door might be me.
Overall, it’s been a great week so far. So tonight we’re kicking back with a bottle of champagne and watching the world burn. Because what else can you do.
