If your Ford had a Matthew McConaughey, it would be a Lincoln

I've got a question

A friend of mine is looking to buy a new Challenger Scat Pack with the shaker hood. It’s like the muscle car of his dreams. He’s been reading up on them recently and found that some develop a rust problem on the rocker panels right by the rear wheels due to a foam (sound deadening?) that collects moisture and therefore promotes corrosion. Has anybody heard of this before?

He sent me a link to a forum that covers this topic, but the forum is confusing and there’s no clear answer from what I can see. Apparently some people dig the foam out to prevent the problem and if he is to purchase one, that’d be the first order of business.

If nobody here has any idea, I suppose I’ll ask my teacher tonight. Luckily he’s a Chrysler master tech so maybe he’s heard of this before.
