Finally finished up my butcher block countertop. I really like how it turned out. This was my first time working with wood. Mistakes were made, mistaked were corrected, and much was learned.
There’s an overhang so I can attach hooks to hang my pans from. It also makes it a lot easier to slide food off the block and onto a pan/plate.I decided not to plane it, as I really liked the organic look of the slightly wavy board. It’s flat enough for cutting and wasn’t too much of a pain to sand.
I’ve been using it for a week and am really enjoying the extra cutting space. It makes it a lot easier to prepare meals. I cook at least six days a week, so all the work that went into this thing was worth it.
