Before the release of the Polonez Kombi, a proper estate version of the Polonez you can see above, there was a different way of turning a standard, liftback Polonez into something (in theory) more practical. You don’t see them around very often, but I managed to spot one of those “conversions” today.


Yup. It’s literally a somewhat squared off replacement for teh rear hatch. The boot opening is still exactly the same, as the whole extra bit just lifts off as if it were a regular hatch. It’s still hinged in the same spot.

This is how a regular Polonez Caro Plus looks like. You just get one, buy one of those fatter replacement hatches to slap on the back, and hey presto! You’ve got yourself a practical estate.
