So I have listed my honda civic for sale on craigslist and cars.com. Recently, I received a text from an email address asking for the condition of the car and to email him back for further conversation. I emailed him back with a spreadsheet full of maintenance history and to try and set up a time to check it out. Up to this point, I thought I had a genuinely interested buyer. Then, I received this gem of a response:

Received your response and I appreciate it.Anyway, can you assure me that it's in good state as it appears and that i will not be disappointed with it.I want you to consider it sold to me because I am ready to offer you the demanded price.I'm an oceanographer and i'm presently out of town till April 20, 2014. I would have loved to called but due to bad fluctuating network and the lack of reception on the sea area, but can actually try to use my phone applications to text you with my laptop. I'm able to access email every an hour to 2 hours to keep records and information's as we will make use of laptop.

So my only quickest secure form of payment i have access to now is PayPal as i can send money via PayPal anytime. Since I'm requesting this transaction to be done via PayPal, i will be responsible for all the Paypal fee/charges on this transaction and if you don't have an account with Paypal, its pretty easy, safe and secured to open one. Just log on to and follow up the instructions. I hope we can make the purchase as fast as possible? I have a mover that will come for it once payment clears and they will take care of every necessary paper for me. So i look forward to hear from you with your Paypal info as follows:PAYPAL EMAIL ADDRESS,NAME ON THE ACCOUNT,PICK UP ADDRESS and MOBILE # so that I can initiate the payment immediately.I will like to see more recent pictures.

Sincerely,

Mark.

Now I am trying to figure out what sort of response to give this guy. Part of me wants to concoct some ridiculous story and drag it out just to waste the guy's time. Another part of me wants to sign this guy up for a bunch of porn sites and ignore him. But then I also feel bad that maybe he really is an oceanographer and is being totally honest. So I feel like I want to just tell him "Sorry, cash on delivery only" and call it a day. Good read though!
