The 1.8 out of a 15 Elantra.... The tensioner just completely failed and when you cranked it the chain would slap around and only sometimes turn the cams. Engine was already trashed. ...it only had ~55k on it. No clue what caused it to fail. No sludge, good service history, not abused.
Four out of 8 cylinders had dropped valve seats. Who ever drove this was incredibly stupid or was fresh out of fucks to give.
Been sitting in a backyard shed for almost a year. It would start, but sputter really badly and stall out after 10 or 15 seconds. First thought was to drain the old, shit oil that’s been sitting the whole time.
This is while it was draining. A few dead spiders came out, all the oil was this color and when I popped the egg sack things with some pliers they poofed into this weird goopy shit.
...wrong ball joint. 15 Tahoe with aluminum arms and aluminum knuckles, none of the aftermarket ball joints work, but all of the parts stores list a moog ball joint from thr previous generation trucks. Spoiler alert : it doesn’t fit.

I suspect this trash tire shop just started all the lugnuts with the impact gun. I ended up replacing all 5 studs. They were all cross threaded and 2 were bent.
Wheel bearing and cv axle were fine. Customer didn’t drive very far after the grinding noise started.

You can’t really see the safety measures in place. It’s not LOTO but the drive belts are removed, the battery is disconnected keys are in my pocket. The feed wheels are locked and so is the impeller. There is no possible way that this can fire, or engage and of the “death stuff” while I’m down the throat adjusting the anvil.
...I have too many people come into our shop and they never admit they screwed up. Also at least he was smart enough to not drive it.

...its a filter... kid that put the filter on is long gone but that’s another story. Customer goes to another shop to have his next oil change done and they cant get the filter off. Gets towed to us, we push it in and lift it on the hoist. The filter looked like that before we even touched it.
It ripped it out, had some tiny little blood holes on my chin for a couple hours
It was boxed, U shaped inserts and all.
The interior had cans of beans half eaten and full of mold. There was dirty underwear and rotten bread and black and green mold growing everywhere.
He was SHOCKED we refused to work on the car and wanted to know why.....boss wouldn’t let me tell him. 😒
Definitely don’t see these everyday.

...it had oil in it. The story goes that the guy had it out on track and pulled into the paddock and shut it off, went to start it again later and it was seized.
