My favorite JRitS posts of the week, Vol. 39

Reddit’s Just Rolled into the Shop is a veritable cornucopia of the many wonders and oddities of shop lyfe. You never know what’s gonna roll in. Here’s what caught my eye this week.

Picture doesn’t do a great job showing it but this was a battery core turned in a few days ago when the ambient was -15F. Both sides expanded out about 2 inches and the plastic showed white stress marks at the top. Keep your batteries charged and warm y’all.

Rear spring off of a 2015 Honda Civic. It actually didn’t fall out of the car while driving because it was wedged up against each other by the cars weight.

Our best guess was temperature fluctuation, technician went to install a battery under the backseat then heard a loud bang next thing he knows the glass is all over the inside of the car. Just another day in the shop explain that one to the customer on their 2015 GMC Acadia…

There’s a TSB about it... 16-0109. No recall, and I don’t think they will ever have one because it’s a bad design that can’t be fixed. I believe the 2018 models got rid of that transmission.

I just pushed it back in and begrudgingly swapped to a different rack... What a pain.
