So I bought a ‘91 Jeep Cherokee for $2000 knowing it was a project, but still under the false pretense that it was registerable as a road going vehicle. After purchasing the vehicle I had to run across the country to visit my grandfather in the hospital in Manitoba. Upon my return home I was finally able to go to ICBC (British Columbia’s public insurance company) to register and insure my Jeep only to be told the previous registered owner has a lien against her ICBC account/the vehicle, thus denying me any opportunity to register or insure the jeep. I have the ownership papers; legally the vehicle is mine now, but her debt haunts the vehicle. What can I do about this situation oppo? I need this to be a roadgoing vehicle.
