Not another car search! (updated)

When it rains, it pours. I started off the year with my mom's car search and that ended happily with a 2013 Forester. I documented my search that ended with a 2013 Focus ST. I mentioned my girlfriend's search a couple times as well (ended with a 2013 Elantra GT). Trend being new, new, new. Well here's a NEW scenario.

My sister just graduated this past June. She got a job near our home and will be starting in a month or so. She plans on returning to school in Boston next year. She doesn't have a car to herself (shares, kinda, with my brother like most families do). So, she asked me to help her find a car or give her some advice.

Now, her requirements are 4 doors, good mileage, relatively small. This isn't her ideal car as she loves pickups and suvs but for her commuting needs it certainly fits the bill at the time. She's looking at dealerships today I believe and is interested in the Dart. My thoughts and suggestions were leaning towards used. I figure that the cost of a lease over the next two years would be about the same as getting a used car that she wouldn't have to worry about damage to when parking in town (scrapes from curbs, pedestrians, cars) but she said she would just use the T.

There are options out there for sure but what are the thoughts from Oppo? Personally, I did the 2 year lease out of college route and it helped me in that time for sure but I don't think I would do it again if I had the choice. I would like to get some opinions on lease vs used that I can use in conversations with her. There is no right or wrong answer, it all comes down to her preference, but I want her to be armed with some background information so when she decides it is somewhat informed.

Thanks guys!

edit: 2 hours after this post, she is test driving the Dart. I'll have her input in a little while.
