GMC was interesting yesterday, as it was quite a far cry from the litany of sports/sport oriented cars we usually see on OCG, largely because GMC never really directed their focus in that direction. Today though, we will be heading back to Italy to browse the glorious Italian goddesses of Modena. Today we’ll be looking at Maserati.


Perhaps it’d be easiest to live with the new Levante that’s coming out, as it’ll be on the Durango/Cherokee platform provided by Chrysler, and it’ll have optional AWD. For some reason though, it just doesn’t do it for me. It isn’t that I’m opposed to a Mase SUV. It’s just not quite right to me. I can’t pinpoint it. Perhaps it’s that I like my choices to be proven performers, and the Levante has yet to prove itself. For that reason, I’ll be venturing into a land you’ll very rarely see me in. The land of (ugh) 4 doors. I’ll have myself a Quattroporte. Not just any Quattroporte though. I find the first series, the Tipo 107 to be the most attractive of the bunch. It was made from 1963 to 1969. For 68 and 69 though, they upped the engine size and output from a 4.1 litre mill producing 256 horsepower to a 4.7 litre producing 295. This update also came with a few other changes, most prominently the switch from single headlights to two per side. I’d rather happily tote the family around in a gorgeous Italian chariot, even if it has the wrong number of doors.
