Long story short I’ve been coming to the same Mexican restaurant on Fridays for probably four years. I’ve had the same waitress the whole time who has memorized my order and always gives me chips and salsa to go. I tip her over 50%.
Wow. It’s a combination of cash and on my card. Customers give me big tips all the time at work, so I always leave my waitress at elast five dollars in cash. Then I leave a little bit on my credit card.
Over the last few years I’ve also started tipping good waitstaff at least 30%. 20% is my new low.
But I really wish I didn't have to tip. It's archaic and stupid that wait staff are at the mercy of cheap ass people. It's why I stopped being stingy with 20%.
