I assume someone here must work as a plumber. I have a question to ask. A month or so ago the line from the street to the house broke. We shut it down at the meter, found the leak and put a splice in. We then turned the water back on, slowly, and flushed the system. No big deal.

Fast forward a few weeks and my wife finds the flex line from her sink shutoff valve leaking around the seals. No problem, we replace it. A week later, yesterday in fact, we find both lines from the shut offs on my sink leaking.

Question: on an older house, 1978 vintage, could the shock of turning the water on and off from the main compromised these seals?
