First off, have an awesome pic of the Rum Bum R8 at the 24 Hours at Daytona. I had noticed that my '08 A4 (2.0L, Quattro, 6MT, 108k) had started leaking a bit of oil. I didn't really think too much about it since the oil level hasn't been changing drastically (I make sure to keep an eye on it since it burns oil and it also has that awesome oil level sensor) also, there's the running joke that German cars leak oil. Mine is living up to that.
I saw a bit of smoke rolling out from under the hood on the way to grab lunch today and panicked briefly until I remembered the leak. I don't know why I assumed it was a pan gasket but when I popped the hood, it's definitely high on the engine. So now I'm assuming it's a valve cover gasket.
I need your opinion on a few things now that I have a pretty good idea of where it's leaking. 1) is a valve cover gasket leak indicative of anything else? 2) I'm probably going to do the spark plugs at the same time as this gasket. To the best of my knowledge, the plugs have never been changed, will this be a problem? (hopefully they're nice and lubed up from all of the oil that's now leaking all over them.) 3) What do I need to look out for?
Thanks for your input! If you want, I can mail you ghost pepper barbecue sauce.
