I’ve been passing the time by scrolling through famed aviation photographer Bill Larkins’ Flickr and came across this photo, which I thought you might find interesting. It’s a dazzle painted F-14A that Larkins photographed on the deck of USS Enterprise as it steamed out of San Francisco harbor in 1976. The top photo is a detail of the second photo, showing a gaggle of F-14As with liveries from different squadrons. I just noticed a second dazzle F-14 at the back of the ship.
From the comments, I learned that this is the work of Keith Ferris, an artist responsible for many camouflage patterns, and whose work is worthy of an entire post. More info on the F-14 camouflage here.
