I recently found out that I’m considered an Italian citizen as a result of Italy’s “Blood Law”. Basically, Italy automatically grants citizenship to the kids of Italian citizens, even if they’re born outside of the US and never request it. It originally only applied paternally, but allowed women to pass on citizenship starting in 1948. So if your great grandparent was Italian, then you grandmother birn in the US was Italian, and so was your parent (if born after 1948) and so are you.
Once you prove to the Italian government that an ancestor was an Italian citizen, they’ll issue you a passport. You can complete the process yourself or hire a company to help you.
Have any other Oppos hired a company to do this? I’ll definitely be applying for an Italian passport, and am wondering if anyone has a trusted company to use.
