Josh Daniel is bringing a first to this month's Mint 400 desert race, the first twin turbo trophy truck. Turbos were banned in desert racing until a year or two ago, when organizers finally said (with some prodding from Ford and their EcoBoost crate motor program) "well if we're calling these classes 'unlimited' classes we really ought to allow turbos." Initially it brought in a smattering of turbo 6's, but Josh Daniel, owner of DanZio Performance, an engine performance specialist shop, has finally decided to strap two snails to a V8 race motor. The end result is an engine that has been dynoed at over 1000 horsepower, making it the most powerful trophy truck engine to date. She's gonna be fast!
