I have a Viper alarm on my car. I guess they want you to get stuff changed at the alarm shops for best customer experience or something; changing anything is a right pain in the patoot.

To alter settings (timing, passive arming, various chirps and chortles) you need to find a bootleg copy of the installation manual online. It’s an insane pressing and holding sequence to make any changes.

Then my remote apparently crapped out, and I was able to buy and pair a new one, but pretty much pooped my pants when it immediately stopped working.

Troubleshooting flowcharts are spotty, but I finally managed to intuit that a keypad lock was on. Another voodoo session to deactivate that, and I think we’re finally back in business!
