You know how, in the past, car dealers had some leeway in special ordering cars for customers in configurations that weren’t technically available from the factory by using things like fleet orders and GM’s COPOs?

Does any sort of flexibility like that still exist? As I understand it, Ford will still build vehicles with unique options for fleet customers through their Vehicle Special Order process, as long as it is feasible for them to do so, but would dealers still have the ability to use that process to order cars for individual customers?

Like, if I wanted to order a particular interior with a particular engine, even if that combination isn’t normally available from the factory, could a cooperative dealer push it through anyway as a VSO?
