Is the decision of putting the spare tire on the hatch of an SUV/Crossover/CUV/Lifted Wagon/Adversary a good one? I don't think it's a good idea if the vehicle in question won't really be prone to constant tire punctures. On a wrangler? Yeah, I guess it would be useful. But in a last gen Rav-4 or in a new Ford Ecosport? Its just a pointless gimmick and overcomplicating system that is both more expensive to build, more expensive for the customer, and more expensive for later repairs when that idiot in the Cavalier rear ends you.

What do you think about it? Should this be the norm, or should it be kept away from your children?
