Reasons not to buy a First gen smart fortwo, #450

If you own a first generation W450 and live in an area where it happens to rain (forget about snow) and you park outside, start the car at least once every week or else...

Your alternating boi will seize because of rust. Yes, the pulleys in a first gen smart will rust away extremely quickly. This is yet another common smart problem.

Thankfully, unlike the ABS rings this design changed when the 451 came around...

Are there any easy methods to clear the rust/seize? Changing the bugger requires dropping the engine a few inches, because of course it does.
