Edit #4: Thankfully, the sound minds here at Oppo (hey now, quit laughing!) helped me to think clearly and come to a calm, rational decision. I went to the shop, told the mechanic about the leak, and he said that the shop would take care of it for free if it turned out to be faulty workmanship on the shop’s part. I feel like a bunghole for feeling the way I felt, but thankfully, everything is looking up. More to follow on the 28th.
Edit #3: Tomorrow I’ll be taking the truck by the shop and see what they say. With luck (fingers crossed) I’ll be able to have the repair covered by them. Either way, this disappointed me. Thank you everyone that provided input, I’ll follow up on this as time moves forward.
Edit #2: After cleaning up the oil from around the base of the oil cooler (engine is a 6.0 Powerstroke), I let the engine idle at temp for about 10 minutes. Needless to say, there’s seepage around the base of the oil cooler while the engine is at idle. I can think and say a lot of things, but this seems like an issue with either a.) Torquing the bolts down properly or b.) ensuring the gasket surfaces were properly cleaned, and free of nicks/gouges.
Edit: Thank you for the input I’ve received so far. This is frustrating to say the least, I’m trying to keep my cool and think logically. I was supposed to be leaving on a trip to FL from VA tomorrow - yeah, that’s not happening. Holy shitty timing, Batman!
Okay, so, a couple of weeks ago, you may or may not have seen a post where I finally got my truck back. Well, as it turns out, the truck has been leaking oil worse and worse....from the site that the shop repaired.
I do not want to take it back to the shop that I got the repair done at.
What I’m wondering, and seeking advice on, is if I have a leg to stand on in court.
Any helpful thoughts and advice would appreciated.
