I was really harsh on it last time around, I tried it another time... With better weather conditions I was more comfortable poking it.
I’m starting to realize this gearbox needs a better driver than me to really get everything out of that flat six. I started driving like I drove my WK2; modulating the throttle before and after the shift to insure the smoothest power delivery, and I’m left wanting a better connection with the powertrain.
On the other hand, I think now that it behaves differently than the 993... Much more than I knew last time around... It understeers a bit less.
Im sure that, if I spent a week with it, I could get to know it better... But in reality if I was in the market for a 997 I’d avoid the five speed auto even if it’s the cheapest way into a 997...or even a 996.
