Botanical Beach is one of my favorite single-day driving-trip destinations, and at least once a year I would get inspired to look up the Tidal Predictions at Port Renfrew to see if it is suitable to visit the tide pools. What I am looking for is a low of 1.2m or less, that happens on a weekend and also around noon, to account for my travelling time.

All of these came together on 2017-07-15, and here are the pictures.

Nearly a year later, I brought my sister’s family along with their new-to-them gen-1 R8 V10 on a similar trip, when once again all the stars aligned again. You can see those pictures here:

The day started aboard the Spirit of British Columbia, the highest capacity in the fleet:

BMW’s motion sensor alarm vs. a pitching ferry car deck.... I also had the same oversight for years until I finally RTFM (press lock button on remote right after locking the car to disable)

This caught my eye on the Pacific Marine Circle Route, as I left Port Renfrew... so I pulled over for a quick picture. Only after some Google searches after I got home, did I find out that this is actually somewhat famous:

I pulled into Duke Point Ferry Terminal just as the sailing pulled away, so I had the dubious honour of being Number One! With the lot all to myself, I decided to might as well get some more pictures:
