Should I spend the extra money?

As a collector of things old, borderline obsolete and cheap, I recently purchased an ancient (2003-vintage) DSLR. The basic wide-angle zoom lens is nice, but I’ve decided that I need something with a longer focal length as well. I have found that I can just buy the lens I want for about $50, or I can buy the lens and another camera body, newer than the one I have, for just $15 more (if nobody else bids, that is). Would I be a fool to pass this up?
