Ok, some of you are probably ok, but in this lecture for my class, a guest speaker just said “not a single person touches the engine from the raw aluminum to the finished part” and then talking about how they used compressed air to measure the tolerances for the cast iron sleeve, and the kicker “the tolerances are so good that you’re probably never going to see an oil leak, which is why they can offer a 100k mile warranty and never worry about it, and even if you ran the original oil in your car the whole 100k miles, which I don’t recommend by the way, but even if you did, chances are that engine would still be running at 100k miles.”
