A buddy of mine has a LTD crown victoria that was suffering from a pretty nasty oil leak. Well no longer! Replaced the valve cover and intake manifold gaskets, also decided to use up some Ford blue paint I have had lying around for a long time while I had all the parts off. As I’ve mentioned before, I can’t stand working on a dirty engine. I tried to clean anything i ran across, though it needs a thorough pressure washing still. I’m sure she’ll be back soon enough.

Found a piece of bone from the deer that messed up the front end, how joyful.

Runs fantastic now, though I have put together a few thoughts on the car.

*The fan is huge and heavy. Sure it’s a big v8 but that thing’s gotta sap some significant power.

*I know it’s not the HO but jesus it has a tiny throttle body. Far smaller than my M30 (3.5 i6).

*also tiny passages for the intake manifold. Even though there’s 8 instead of 6 the M30 displaces more air.

*150 hp out of a 5 liter v8 made in ‘91 is very meh, especially when compared to the 180 from the 3.5 i6 in ‘85, or compared to ~300 out of my Jags 4.0 v8 which to be fair is ‘98. Also quite a bit down on torque compared to the 4.0.
