I keep breaking shifter cables. Tonight I broke my 3rd one in two weeks. They all break in the same way, the rubber cable housing pulls out of the metal end bit. So the push-pull cable becomes a pull-only cable. I have absolutely no idea why this keeps happening, the cable is installed the exact same way my original…
Proceeded to find the redline, and discovered what valve float is... David Tracy’s Jeep was cool though! Also, got some free stickers
Multiple mid-engine corvettes? Check.
Got this vintage aftermarket Audiovox radio installed so now I can jam out to 8-tracks in the car. Terrible sound quality, but what do you expect from 70s equipment? Also got my dashboard restored, is has been remachined and been dyed the original gold color used on the special editions. Finally, welded up my cracked…
And it is slightly worse than I had hoped for. As you can see in the video, there are leaks on all cylinders where the head meets the intake. This was probably caused by some machine work I had done to the heads a couple years ago (where it had never run correctly since). The car has trouble starting, doesn’t like…
354 days since the rear wheel fell off during a test drive, my Trans Am is alive. Been fighting with the bodyshop for months to get my car fixed and now it is finally in my possession. A full year of sitting outside not getting worked on at the bodyshop due to the shop owners incompetence has led to some rust spots…
Just finished bedding in my new brake pads and the rear wheel flew off the car. Suspension is messed up, rotors are messed up, there’s a crack in the trunk floor, and the quarter panel is really screwed.
Got the new rims and tires installed, it drives quite a bit different than the 14 year old tires on 15x7 rims. I also learned how to change brake pads today.
May as well send the old tires out with some style.
They put some small scratches on one of the rims so I’ve got to repaint that bit but other than that, I’m pretty happy! These are a nice deal wider than the 225-75-R15s on the car now.
Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2s. Hopefully they don’t suck. There aren’t a whole lot of tires that come in the sizes I was looking for, this was the best I could find. Now just to get them mounted on my freshly painted rims.
Same gold paint I used on my original snowflakes a few years ago so it’ll match the car correctly. The inside of the wheel is masked off and will remain black, hopefully it will give it a nice contrast.
Here are the best pictures to come out of my short photoshoot today. The car’s a bit dirty and whatnot since it’s been living daily driver status recently. Probably the last photos before the new rims go on.
More fewer poorly framed photos to come. Like my license plate?
Just need to paint them gold and get tires mounted.
I bought new rims tonight for the Trans Am. They’re pretty close to what is pictured on the car above. The fronts are 18x8 and the rears are 18x9. Anyone have tire suggestions? I need help with brands and sizing. The original tires on the car were 225/70r15, and I’d rather have more sidewall than be rolling around on…
Drove the trans am around the block today and half way around a horrible and really loud knocking sound started happening inconsistently when under throttle. I get back home and open the hood looking for something like a broken motor mount causing the engine to bang against stuff but nothing. Apparently one of the…
Looking at the date code these tires are 14 years old! No wonder they are so hard and have bulges on all the side walls. I just don’t want to drop $1500 on wheels and tires right now. Good thing I drive less than 1000 miles a year. This is apparently my concern for safety:
What a long way I’ve come since then. Update: Now with finished pictures because y’all have forgotten what it looks like.
My 700r4 is slipping in the 1st to 2nd shift and I have no idea how to fix that because transmissions are magic. Any suggestions? The transmission has probably around 125,000 miles and came out of a 1991 Caprice.
