I’ve never had an engine over 3.0L in displacement in any car I’ve owned or daily-driven.
I want engine and transmission combination here (if it’s a single-speed, then I want reduction boxes between the engine and the axle). Can you beat the Yaris?
and it sounds glorious.
So Toyota dumped info on another set of new powertrains, and it looks like they got to 40% thermal efficiency again.
So, last evening and this evening I’ve been spending my free time watching this two-part series on how to reassemble a classic FIAT 500/FIAT 126 engine (yes, I am obsessed enough that I’m watching 2 hours of video on reassembling the engine for a car I don’t even have yet :P):
Soon I will be receiving a smart W451 engine that fell to leaky oil rings. I saved the little thing from being scrapped and got it for scrap value.
I know there’s this custom “Merlincar” running around, are there any others? Is there some dragster with a V-1650 somewhere?
What’s a good website for looking up the specs of an engine ( compression, bore & stroke, displacement, horsepower, torque, etc) Olds 455 for your time.
The AACA hosted a large car show in my town on Sunday. There was a great display of cars.Mixed in with the normal Mustangs and Camaros were some cars I’ve never seen before! Here’s a small preview.
So I was in a discussion on the front page about how Lincoln and Ford are not just rebadged. They offer exclusive engines in all but 1 model and even have different suspension sometimes. MKC is a great example of different suspension, it also doesn’t share a single bit of sheet metal with an Escape, it’s a different…
Thermal efficiency is the paramount concern at Mercedes. That’s the measure of how much of the heat produced by the engine is converted into meaningful power for the car, and the company says its latest PU surpasses 45 percent. Having been at 29 percent in 2013, Mercedes has made a bigger advancement in the past few…
For reference, the A8L comes with a twin turbo 4.0L V8, making 450HP. The Mustang GT is naturally aspirated 5.0L V8, making 435HP. Why the minimal HP difference? Is it just the displacement difference or is there more to it? Because a twin turbo 5.0L supposedly makes 700+ HP.
I don’t know why. It’s bigger than my racecar. I need it. I need IDEAS!
The majority of automobiles are powered by something that is essentially a variant of Georgian era engineering. The conventional 4-stroke cycle, reciprocating, internal combustion engine, is in basic principals not much different than steam engines that were being built in the 1790s.
You may have noticed that both Mercedes and Jaguar are rumored to be switching to inline sixes for the next generation. Here’s the article written by Jason Cammisa for Road and Track (I believe he is with Motor Trend currently).
As a Maserati lover, the Ferrari F154 Engine is the most exciting thing in this world. The moment the Levante gets this engine, I’m going to have my dream SUV. I also can’t wait to see this thing in the next Granturismo as well. Hell, anything with this engine is automatic dream car despite any other shortcomings, aka…
Sent the block to the machine shop last week. they came back to me telling me that it needs to be bored .060" over, as they are out of round. everything else is good, and they’re sourcing forged pistons with the proper clearances, as they requite a larger space between the wall, and stock pistons no longer fit the…
Sometimes the rate of our technological progress shocks me. I mean, 60 years ago a hard drive only had 5 MB of space and was the size of two fridges. And now, we’ve got devices in our pockets that can contact people on the other side of the planet, and we use them to send smiley poops at each other. But you can really …
