I came across a Mk3 MR2 for sale, this very one in fact.
The Creek Fire near Los Angeles claimed an AW11.
You may remember my post a few weeks back about my rusty exhaust shearing in TWAIN on the highway. That was fun. Well, since that was the last OE exhaust for the Supercharged MR2's back when I bought it, and no aftermarket options exist for anything resembling a reasonable price, I had to go the DIY route.
I saw it purely by chance, as I perused old bookmarks.
Beautiful color combo.
Haven’t had a chance to get near the new one in a minute, but it easily survived a 1300 mile drive to Florida, then 1300 miles back in less than 48 hours. Not bad for a car that cost a little over a grand and has 175k miles on it. The only issue was that I noticed a brake caliper starting to hang when I rolled into…
Our 1985 MR2 race car we bought specifically for autocross just made a surprise trip to Florida from New York City in order to get registered correctly.
Have an MR2! This ‘85 was recently rescued and is now happy again after getting its old clutch master cylinder replaced. Pic from over the weekend.
It even still has the wonderful three spoke wheels
One Owner, 75,000 mi car from 1988. Amazing.
How many MR2s is too many? Don’t know. There might not be such a thing as too many MR2s.
It’s that time of year! Academic obligations are taken care of and I’ll be here on Oppo a lot more frequently as a result. How’s everyone doing?
I’m taking my MR2 to autocross in a few days. As of right now it isn’t perfectly aligned because the front subframe is bent from a previous owner’s date with a curb. This could make “Oh-Snap!” oversteer a bigger issue. How worried should I be?
As I suspected, now that I got my Frontier as a DD, I sadly don’t find myself driving the MR2 much anymore. If it’s a nice day and I want to go for a spirited drive, I’d rather take the SV650. If it’s not a nice day or I just want to be comfy, I’ll take my truck.
Had a friend of mine reach out to me as one of his friends is trying to sell his 1985 AW11 MR2. He said it was mint, and I figured “mint” meant as mint as you’d expect your average AW11 would be for $5500 canadian.
Only like 21 minutes until it’s Midship Monday, but I figured I’d go ahead and share before I went to bed.
Due to the financial wonder called ‘a job’, I seem to have acquired enough funds to carry out the idea I discarded back in September. Has anyone ever visited Iceland, and if so, do you have any tips?
Last Sunday was the first autocross of the season, and that evening I put the MR2 in the garage still on the race tires since I didn’t have time to change them out. Fast forward to Thursday, I go in the garage to mess with a small compressor I got as a gift, when I notice that the key is still in the ignition. Odd.
