Not only is the Oppomeet at the Tail of the Dragon over, but as I finished the trip, so ended my bumper to bumper warranty, after 36,000 miles on the GTI. Both were good while they lasted.
Several of us went back to the Tail of the Dragon after an early dinner, with two per car, to watch cars and motorcycles at the overlook as the sun went down. Happily, I avoided killing my passenger when I tried to catch a WRX, although it was a close call. See what you folks are missing by not being at the Oppomeet?
Hey Oppo! If you always wanted to drive on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with Oppos from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, GB and even the United States here is your chance. The proposed weekend of the meet from the 21st September until the 23rd September. Tourist laps are usually in late noon hours depending from day…
So, we left our action on day one with an ominous puddle underneath the Citroen, and a plan to sort it devised over a night’s drinking.
OK, here’s the route! Anyone can purpose any slight changes, but the import thing is the meeting point/time and destinations. I’ve basically plagiarized Eric’s route, hopefully he’ll forgive me. Time is flexible obviously, just try to be at the meeting point on time, we’ll roll out from there at around 12:30pm.
Just had a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 + dropped at my door, just in time to be put on the daily wheels prior to the Oppomeet 2018 at Tail of the Dragon in 2 weeks! Woo hoo! (YOU should come join the meet.)
Ike’s Oppo Meet at Tail of the Dragon is in exactly a month and a day. As far as I know, only 5 or 6 people have signed on, not including Ike. I’ve already put down money and days off for this so I’m fully committed, but I’m just unsure what the turnout is going to be like or what’s in-store when we get there. I’m…
Well, another Oppo/Jalopnik meet in the books! We had an attendance of 6 people:
You’ll get to see cool cars
TL;DR: Vancouver Oppo meet with David Obuchowski, if you have not RSVP’d, please do below. Date & Time: June 29th at 6:00pm at Granville Island Brewing. Looking forward to it! I’ll have my Fiesta ST. Estimated attendance: 10 people (give or take a few)
I’ve been seriously bummed out since finding out I was flying out of town for work on the same day as the Radwood show in SF next weekend. But it got me thinking, I know we have a decent number of Oppos across California. I’ve met a couple over the last year at some meets/shows, but I’d like to get to know more of you.
I did a stupid and forgot a communication-critical part, namely asking for your email addresses. Could the people with asterisks next to their name fill out the form again? Latecomers can still register as well.
This is on, we have 3 people confirmed if we can get the number up past 15 we can get a lot of the event planning finalized!
Having finally begun to recover from the Nashville Oppo Meet, I’m ready to start considering my next trip with car people. As much as I’d love to join the Tail of the Dragon meet, it’s too far away. So I would like to propose another option: Arkansas.
After all of the fun of the Nashville Oppo Meet, it is clear that some people are willing to travel many (many) hours to get together. This is a reminder that Ike has been working on another such gathering for August 10-12 near the Tail of the Dragon at Fontana Village Resort in western North Carolina.
Stopped on way back from Nashville.
Sitting on the porch in rocking chairs while most are on the distillery tour.
Brentwood (starting point for the Nashville Oppo meet) is not a busy metropolis. Car wash shuts down at 6 pm on a Friday, and the First Watch breakfast joint doesn’t open until 7 am. Not what I’ve become accustomed to.
