best use of a Pontiac Fiero
Jolene the Sunbird’s first cruise-in car show was a success. It was a “Candy Cruise In/Trunk-Or-Treat” at my church. I got several compliments from kids and parents alike.
New serpentine belt, new A/C belt, oil change, and a quick detail. Tomorrow, she goes to her first cruise-in car show. 56,660 miles now.
It actually rained a bit after.
...done at 2pm including a lunch break to wait for layers to cure. Seasonal Svending is complete, she is ready for storage next month.
Took Jolene the Sunbird for a cruise tonight before putting her back in the garage for the week. She usually comes home on the weekends and stays in my friend’s four car garage at his place during the week. 56,400-something miles now.
It's from 1979 and is choked by smog, but its loud and the price is beyond perfect. So eat my shorts Oppo, I don't give a fuck about common sense at this point. I have shop space to getting it running. I just wish it was a 400 and a 4 speed instead of a 403 and an auto....
Apparently my GTO decided that the cam and lifters were too tasty to pass up on. I can’t believe how pitted overy lobe and lifter are and how much wear through the hard face there is.
Iconic. I think this other video has John DeLorean wailing on the bumper with (possibly) the engineering team.
Went out to my car to run across town to pay rent and grab some lunch and my GTO is making a terrible noise. Like just awful. But I had to run my errands and so I did. I feel so bad putting her through that. I drove it into the service drive at work and my GM service advisor looked at me with great concern and asked…
I got a new/old cassette player (from eBay again) installed in the Sunbird and my grandma gave me a collection of old tapes she had. Literally a briefcase full. I was jamming to some old school Dolly Parton today. The stereo is loud as can be when playing a tape. It’s literally just the radio that is quiet. So, it is…
Swapped cassette players with the one I got on eBay. Promptly broke the eBay one with a junky tape adapter that fell apart inside it. Deconstructed both the original broken and unplugged cassette player and the eBay one to see how they work and if I could fix either of them. Negative.
Jolene lives. Got her out of the garage this evening for the first time since last Monday. Replaced the cracked coolant reservoir. Got my replacement radio and cassette player in the mail today, too. Hopefully, those can go in this weekend.
Haven’t laid eyes on the car in over a week. I parked it in my friend’s 4 car garage on Monday of last week. Meant to get it out this weekend and swap radios and coolant tanks and ended up not having time. So, it just sits.
Thing was probably out and about because its Dream Cruise time.
Getting an OEM radio and a new coolant reservoir for the Sunbird from a fellow J-body enthusiast (yes, there is more than one of us) for $30.00 shipped. Yay!
