Go see the world. Eat different foods. Drive different cars. I am doing my best to abide by these simple suggestions. An opportunity came up to visit the Phoenix, Arizona area - I didn’t hesitate to book a flight. Upon arrival I decided to choose something I’d never rented before, a Hyundai. A Tucson would have made…
We’re going to be to in Edmonton for the second half of our family vacation, arriving Tuesday night any ideas of what to do while we’re there would appreciated.
I just left work 30 minutes early, so begins my 2 week vacation.
I had to turn around to get a shot of this! Found this gem near the Waipio Valley on the island of Hawaii. Considering they have vehicle inspections in HI, I’m surprised this was on the street AND appeared to be registered.
‘Pick any car in that line’, the attendant said pointing to a row of vehicles. I looked to see one 2018 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk, two 2017 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X’eses, and one 2017 Nissan Rogue SL AWD. I have a wife, two children, and enough baggage to scare any bell hops away at the gate. Guess which vehicle we…
That’s right, the rarest car in all of Hawaii. One with a NRA sticker, Jesus fish, AND a Trump 2020 sticker.
I’ve been driving the rental Rogue around for about a week. In true fashion it has made me feel more rebellious, and... Rogueish...?
The other day I flew to an island to get my peace on
Less than 24 hours ago I was drinking an ale on the North Shore:
Starting my vacation in one hour. Gone for a week and a half, with no solid plans other than tomorrow (when I somewhat miraculously reach the ripe old age of 35).
I just wrote a lengthy email to Detroit Speed (DSE). Apparently it wasn’t going to be as easy as I thought it would be off the bat. Old cars never seem to be as ‘bolt on’ about mods as newer cars. From my email:
So I’ve been down in Miami this week with my brother meeting with chefs and natural food stores about his brainchild Replantable (check it out if you’d like: www.replantable.com). It has been a great retreat from the Pennsylvania cold. The car spotting is great, but I’ve been slow with my camera and didn’t catch any…
I still feel that vanity plates need to be really creative, but this car was at an overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway (in the Smokey Mountains) near where we ended our turkey day hike. Photo of the view from the top of Tennant Mountain below, making up for the bad weather on Tuesday. Imagine this 360 degrees all…
Beautiful day today compared to yesterday, and headed south to White Water Falls in Nantahela Forest near the SC line. Hiked down about 1,500 vertical feet, went a ways along the river, then back up. Rewarded by this 911 turbo at the parking lot.
The flourish makes me laugh.
This is our view in the Dominican Republic today. Our plan is to eat, Beach, eat, drink, pool, drink, Beach, eat, drink and maybe pool again. It should make for a good day. I’ve turned off my work email as well and that makes things even better.
Lovely night in Idaho. Ribs for dinner, s’mores for dessert, the kids playing tag and a Space Station flyover. Good stuff.
One of the perks of working in aviation is that you often have access to ID travel. Known under multiple names like ID90 for example, it’s basically just hugely discounted standby travel tickets. The standby part meaning that you have to be flexible and a bit more savvy in the planning, but it pays off in savings on…
Tomorrow, I fly into LA, but don’t have to be in Buttonwillow until the afternoon. There is one place I must stop on the way. I think you know where I’m talking about.
This was basically my view earlier this evening. We’re here for two weeks for our honeymoon (couldn’t go immediately and it was easier/more cost-effective to switch our flight and hotel booking than take a separate trip, so we just extended it). I’ve seen a lot of weird cars (like last time) and have just under 20G of…
