Got some wheel center caps for my gen-1 XC90 this week. They’re the newest style, with the black background behind the VOLVO text on the Ironmark, which IIRC Volvo started using when the new XC90 came out a few years ago.
My work acquired a 2006 Volvo XC90 2.5T AWD that’s going to our wholesale/auction lot. I had them put a hold on it for me because it’s in stunningly good shape, and I’m contemplating buying it before it goes to auction/wholesale.
One starts at over a quarter million dollars and is the de facto ultra-luxury SUV (sorry Dartz). The other is attractive and well-designed. Zing! Comparison pictures below
The MKT was getting a bit long in tooth so it was time for a new one and it was a no brainer that the XC90 is probably the best SUV on the market right now. Got a pretty spanking good deal on it and I think she’s in love with it.
As much as I would love something stupid and fun like an Abarth, I’ve come to the conclusion that I want something large, practical, and luxurious. And although I’ve been hurt twice by Volvos, I still haven’t learned my lessons and decided I want another one. I am now on the hunt for a great deal on three vehicles:
This magical being has but one simple request: You must spend that money on a brand new car. Now, you could buy something like a brand new Mirage and throw $50K worth of parts at it. Or, you could spend all of it on something like a BMW. What is your pick? I know mine.
For better or for worse, the original XC90 stayed on the market for twelve years. All the thought and effort Volvo put into making it world-beating in 2002 at least helped it stay (surprisingly) competitive in 2014.
My favorite new, luxury SUV. Hands-down.
Its just so clean and sophisticated. I'll take one in BRG please.
Twelve cup holders.
Jalopnik seems to have dropped the torch for the new Volvo XC90. I still love it.
What you see above is a
hit grand slam, bottom of the 9th, bases loaded, walkoff. When Volvo dropped the gorgeous XC-90 in our laps earlier this year I thought it couldn't get any better. Little did I know the Swedes had an ace in the hole in the form the of XC-90 R-Design with matte blue paint that they just dropped…
Apparently the 2015 Volvo XC90. Thanks Facebook.
