If you've been reading my posts for the last few days, you'll know the deal, but a quick recap: I got a tax rebate from Her Majesty, and am now looking to spend roughly £700 on some wheels. Not immediately, mind you, as I need to swap my NZ licence for a UK one before they'll insure me (compulsory over here), but in the next couple of months.

While I'm still infatuated with the 156 from yesterday's post, some comments from friends got me thinking about the utility/road-trip-ablity of an estate/wagon, after all, what better way to explore my new homeland than with a matress in the back of a car! So with that thought in mind, I checked out some of my long-roofed options, and here's a sample of what I found:

1989 Volvo 740 Turbo Diesel Estate

1997 BMW E36 323i Touring

The BMW would be more fun, but those Volvos are more or less bulletproof, and my old man had a 760GLE when I was small, and it was the first thing I ever drove (he let me have a go on a forestry road when I was 12), so I have a sentimental attachment to the shape.

What say you, Oppo?
