I was home sick today so I decided to catch up on Top Gear USA. Since we had the QA with Adam the other day and they were pimping the Viking Trucks episode I watched it first. Really, it was pretty well done. It looks like they had a tough go of it with the weather and terrain. The trucks were pretty cool too. While watching I started wondering what kind of support vehicles were accompanying the all American beasts they were using. I had a hunch they were more traditional Icelandic vehicles. I sent a tweet to Adam and he responded. A Toyta HiLux and Range Rovers. The more you know...

Aside from being A great episode they also nailed the fact that Iceland is an amazing place to visit. We were lucky enough to visit there several years ago. We even visited a number of places they did in the show. Of course we hit Reykjavik. We also visited Pingvellir, the home of the Icelandic government from ancient days. What was cool, aside from the obvious history of the place, was the fact the the fault line between the North American continent and Europe is just a couple of miles away. You drive right over it. Also, we visited Vik, which is the home to famous black wool, amazing black sand beaches and that amazing waterfall they showed about half way through the episode. Below is a pic I took there. Beautiful place.
