Day 1 of Dad/Munchkin week kicks off! It is going great! Today we woke up around 8. She had milk, I had coffee. She requested toast and strawberries, so she got toast and strawberries. After breakfast she took down her first quarter mile! It took us about 20 minutes (on foot). We had to stop at every drive way on the way to the cul de sac at the end of our street and “jump” off the lip of it to see if it was any good. None of them were. After that we took care of the animals and played in the SHOP! After that we went up to the playroom to play guitar and watch “Masha and the Bear”. We went for a car ride then had grilled cheeses for lunch. We read 4 stories...annnnnnd she’s out, my guess is til about 5. 1/4 mile on those tiny legs must be like 3 for you or I.
So last week I built my little girl, a little workbench and set it up next to mine. Then I showed you all. She loves it, but the bench sits about neck high with her feet on the ground. Non issue I can just give her something to stand on.....OR I can MAKE her something to stand on.....like a stool......OR like a little set of stairs!......
I had a long piece of 3/4" MDF that I halved, then hit 3 sides on each one with a 1/2" quarter round bit. Then I stole 2x12s from my wife’s compost bin addition and roughed out two steps. I figured I would have to use some sort of bracing between the two supports but I fastened the supports individually with pocket hole screws. flipped it over and walked to the top step. I did a little hop hop and stepped down feeling pretty damned proud of myself, haha. “look at me I have my own set of stairs!” (boratkinginthecastle.gif)
Now I have to find something to do with myself until she wakes up. I have actually managed to get a little work done and am currently playing frisbee with the doggos and duck. The duck chases the frisbee but then stays back while the dogs battle it out for who gets to bring it back to me.
