I love promotional photos from the manufacturers. Some of them can be cool, like this:
But I hate the trend that’s become part of the world of luxury manufacturers, who put very fake looking models in their promotional imagery. The biggest offender is Cadillac (sadly, as they’re my favorite brand), and I think I stand for everyone when I say I really don’t want to see Desmond Hipster over here blocking my CTS-V porn:
But, I think I’ve found the worst offender yet. Opel, who took very many closeups of this man with the car in question in the background to advertise their new Opel GT roadster in 2007.
I haven’t found any context as to who this guy is and his importance to the GT. Was he the designer? I doubt it, they usually pose next to the car in a stylish fashion. Is he the cameraman’s son? Maybe. Is he famous? Hell if I know. But I do know that it looks like he hired some photographer off Facebook to take these photos for him to use as a profile pic.
