This car is the 1922-24 Xtra. It had no front axle (The front wheels were instead mounted on two transverse leaf springs) and the transmission, which was integrated into the rear wheel, worked using two different sized cork wheels and a big drum. It could be had with either a 3.75 horsepower single-cylinder engine, or an 8 horsepower V-twin. In early ones, the passenger had to sit behind the driver and on top of the engine, but later they made one with two-abreast seating. Top speed was claimed to be 30 mph with the smaller engine, and I have no idea how fast the 8 horsepower version could go. But one thing’s for sure, the car was very Xtra.
