Nibbles screwed this up earlier, let's try again.
Put a new hood on my 75 Dart yesterday. Went from this:
To this! Much better, although now that hood ornament annoys me even more.
But then I got bored and have long since grown tired of seeing cracked bondo on the sail panels so I started chipping it out on both sides. Ended up with this:
Looks to me like whoever put the bondo on didn't prep the metal underneath very well. Sanded it back to clean(er) metal and put several coats of rust treatment on the driver's side panel last night. (Pic is before the rust treatment)
Today I'll be sanding and treating the other side then hopefully Monday lay some new bondo on it. This will be the first time I've put bondo on a car but honestly I couldn't do much worse than what was on there and worst case is I have to sand it back out and start over again. Ideally I would be putting patch panels in it but my welding skills aren't that great and I don't have much money to work with on this car. Maybe if I still have her in a few years I'll do it; till then, this will have to be good enough.
