If the CX-9 is using a turbo version of the 2.5L 4-cyl, that would make Mazda the first brand to exclusively use engines with four cylinders or less and nothing over three liters at that. Volvo still uses the 2.5L 5-cyl I think. However, by the end of the decade I’m sure it will be gone.

What do you think? Mazda and Volvo will likely be four cylinders or less and under three liters. Subaru could easily be next up since I think the six cylinder is only in the Legacy sized stuff. Those are pretty much Oppo’s three most beloved brands. Hmm, maybe Mitsubishi as well come to think of it.
