TIL: Ford's Mach-E will become the first mass market EV manufactured in Mexico.

Apparently it’s gonna be made in Cuautitlan, just north of Mexico City.. It would make it,in my book, the first mass market EV made in Mexico.


If you think assembling a Mustang outside of the United States is sacrilegious, Ford used to assemble the Mexican market Mustang Fox Body in the same place. Possibly even the same factory, so it has some heritage.

People that read too much into it, don’t worry, you can still purchase a fully American Tesla Model Y, assembled in California.

The reason why I mention it’s mass market, is because a Mexican company called Zacua made an EV a couple of years ago... but it’s more of a kit car than anything else
