For some reason I’ve always been fascinated by Baikonur Cosmodrome, recently after looking at it on Google Earth I went searching for an annotated map to try and figure out what I could see.
I found the blog of this Dutch space enthusiast who went there in 2011 and 2014 to watch Soyuz launches to the ISS. He’s written a series of pieces that comprise a comprehensive guide to visiting the place.
They are all a fantastic read, I started with this introductory one then went through his 2011 blog in order.
They can all be found here in the full Kazakhstan section, the lucky Tupolev story is a good one too.
EDIT: BONUS I forgot to add I also found on google maps that some hero did a 360 walkthrough of the Buran Shuttle they have at the Cosmodrome museum (unflown thermal test model)
