As previously shared on these pages, I recently finished the build of a solar-powered vehicle not unlike the Mars rover... but for Earth! Tuesday night marked its first attempt to roll out into the real world, complete with terrifying obstacles like power poles, cats, and cars.
Despite the inclement weather, I had no need to use the newly installed camera heater as the lens remained free of condensation. It was a successful drive for the most part, with a recent antenna upgrade giving us strong signal the whole time. Plus, we made a friend!
Shackleton appears to be local to the area, and despite our limited night vision, is probably an orange-y, pale coated cat who is seemingly friendly, or at least ambivalent, towards robots.
While the journey didn’t end quite how I would have wished, I’m thirsty for more action. Coming this Thursday night, Australian Central Standard Time, on Twitch.
