Well the other day I said I wouldn’t post any Skodas post 1991 because some OPPOs have a love for them and I don’t want to upset them with images of new Skodas unavailable to North American persons.
However I received an e-mail this morning from Skoda saying how their sales have seen the best January ever with 91,600 units sold.
Successful Start to the Year: ŠKODA’s Sales Record in January
Mladá Boleslav, 9 February 2016 - ŠKODA's growth continues into 2016. In January, the brand increased their worldwide deliveries by 5.2% to 91,600 vehicles (January 2015: 87,000), making it the best January ever the company's history. ŠKODA's sales increased significantly throughout Europe and China. ŠKODA's latest model generation has received a positive consumer response. Deliveries of the ŠKODA Fabia rose worldwide by 25.8% and the ŠKODA Superb by 62.3%. Demand for the ŠKODA Yeti increased 29.4%.
Now Skoda hasn’t been a slouch with sales the last few years but sales increase by these levels sure look good.
Sales of the new Mk3 Superb up 62.3% (which would explain why my build date was pushed back a little) with suppliers unable to keep up demand for parts Skoda needs to get the motors out the building.
Well done Skoda.
Also not to mention the return of Skoda to the rally scene after an 11 year absence.
ŠKODA Motorsport returns to Sweden in the World Rally Championship after 11-year absence
Mladá Boleslav, 9 February 2016 - ŠKODA Motorsport is celebrating a return to the Rally Sweden after an 11-year absence. The successful team, led by works drivers Pontus Tidemand (S) and Esapekka Lappi (FIN), will launch its assault on the title in the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC 2) on ice and snow from 12 to 14 February. Jonas Andersson (S) also makes his debut for ŠKODA at this iconic event in the far north. The experienced co-driver will be navigating for Asia-Pacific champion Pontus Tidemand for the first time, at their home rally.
The future looks bright for Skoda.
