Looking at pictures of older pickup trucks, they were significantly lower to the ground. What advantage do they gain by being so high and why don’t car manufacturers sell lower ones?

Lower trucks would in theory get better gas mileage and would allow for sporty variants too. I think I would be more interested in the current truck offerings if they were more crossover height, especially the mid size ones.

If the big 3 made a performance variant at the same price point at the same price point as the King Ranch or High Country trims, they’d appeal to some of the customers who want a Camaro or Mustang and a truck.
