So I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to a throwout bearing going bad on my miata. Since replacing that involves dropping the transmission it would be time to do a full clutch job. Now I am trying to figure out what parts should be replaced during a clutch replacement. So far I have come up with this :
- Pressure plate
- Throwout bearing
- Pilot bearing
- Flywheel resurface
Im sure there must be more that can be replaced while I’m at it. Those parts are what is found in a typical clutch kit that I can order for around $125. I found a shop that quoted me at around $420 in labor (4.1 hours plus a day for flywheel resurfacing). And they said I can bring my own parts or order through them. Sounds like a fair deal to me. Anyways, if anyone has insight on more parts to change, I’m all ears!
