I’ve never had wheels (or anything else) powder coated before. My wheels are shot. The coating from the factory has peeled in places, and there’s no shining them up to look anything better than tired. Functionally they’re great, and they aren’t all curb rashed. They’re just close to 20 years old. For better or worse, I need new tires too. Problem is, how can I get four rims sand blasted and powder coated without four more rims holding up the car?
I’m considering heading to a tire shop and explaining this and seeing if I can buy tires on steel loaner rims while getting the real rims coated and then pay for the labor of remounting the tires a second time.
It’s not the worst plan and I suspect it’s my only option, but more than once, especially with cars, I’ve learned that there is a shortcut that makes a ton of sense that you might not know about. If there was a way to do this without going back and forth a couple times, it’d save a minor headache.
Is there a better way to do this?
Thanks in advance.
