I never realized this until I parked next to one the other day but.
The new 4runner is pretty much the same size as my land cruiser. Granted mine is lifted, on bigger tires and has a roof rack...but take another look
And looking into it...yes, they are pretty damn close.
The cruiser is taller and has more clearance but the 4Runner is an inch longer, fractionally narrower and only 100 lbs lighter.
Sadly the interior dimensions are where the new truck are let down. The 4runner is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller inside than the cruiser. On the plus side, the 4runner has more power, more transmission gears and WAY better mileage. Plus with KDDS, a rear locker, and crawl control I'm willing to bet they are pretty evenly matched off road (stock locked 80 vs stock trail 4Runner)
Model bloat? or Progress?
